Dental Big/Little Program

For many students, their time in medical school can be a time of uncertainty – navigating the curriculum, knowing what to expect, and even finding correct classrooms can be a challenge . The Big/Little program, which pairs students of different years together, was founded to help students mitigate such issues by creating a lineage of mentorship that spans  their entire medical school journey.

The Big/Little program is a longitudinal student-run peer mentoring program designed to help students learn from one another as they progress through the rigors of medical school by facilitating the formation of long-lasting relationships with other students at different stages in their training. Each incoming student is matched into a lineage with one or more 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students, which acts as a family unit, to whom students are encouraged to exchange advice and discuss the challenges of medical school in an informal setting.

We hope that the program will cultivate long-term relationships between students, allowing for meaningful connections to be formed and sustained throughout their medical school journey. As students progress through their years, we hope students can rely on their mentors for advice, support, and networking opportunities, helping them make informed decisions about their career paths and academic pursuits.
