The home of UConn Health, located on top of a hill in Farmington, Connecticut, was the recommended site from about 40 locations around Hartford County. Located just minutes from I-84 and Route 9, the UConn Health site, originally selected in June 1962, has been an impressive presence in the Farmington Valley. The 162-acre site is the home of the UConn John Dempsey Hospital, the School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine and the Lyman Stowe Library which are inter-dispersed among its 19 buildings. The design for the original structure was completed by Kling Partnership of Philadelphia after a competition in 1964.

During its construction, UConn Health was the largest building project by the State of Connecticut in its 347 year history. The original building project, started in May 1966, encompassed 1.2 million gross square feet (gsf). Today, the buildings on campus encompass 3.7 million gsf and UConn Health recently grew again with the recent completion of the University Tower and an Outpatient Pavilion. In addition to the structures on the campus, UConn Health is also located around the state in East and West Hartford, Avon, Canton, Simsbury, Southington, Putnam, Storrs Center and in several locations around Farmington.
