The Rich Text Editor (RTE) is a tool that allows you to add or edit content, images, links, and other components on the page without having to know any code. It displays the content and any formatting similar to how it would display in the browser. The toolbar and options function resemble that of a word processor.

NOTE: Sitecore has a 60-minute session timeout. This means your session will timeout after 60m minutes Any changes you made that were NOT saved, will be lost. To ensure your content is saved, select the Accept button at the bottom of the editing window (exiting you out of the RTE) and then select the Save icon.

RTE Toolbar

There are two types of editors Full and Abridged, a description of each icon function is displayed on hover or when the Help Icon is selected. The red areas are functions not typically used.

Tool Functions

print and find and replace icons

Print
Find and Replace text in the editor's content area.

Cut and paste formatting icons

Cut
Copy
Paste - Pastes the copied content from the clipboard into the editor.
Paste Plain Text (strips all formatting from any text you copied from elsewhere)
Paste from Word (strips all Microsoft Word formatting)
Format Stripper - Removes custom or all formatting from selected text.

Undo redo icons

Undo - Undoes the last action.
Redo - Redoes/Repeats the last action, which has been undone.

Linking icons

Insert Sitecore Link (Internal links) - Makes the selected text or image a hyperlink
Insert Sitecore Media - Inserts an image or document from a predefined folder
HyperLink Manager (External links) - Makes the selected text or image a hyperlink
Remove Link - Removes the hyperlink from the selected text or image.
