Sitecore User Roles
Sitecore CMS access will be granted after a CMS overview and basic training. Log-in information will be emailed from Merge containing your username, password, and the URL to access to the CMS. The role of Author/Editor or Approver will be assigned at this time.
Author/Editor
Content Authors have the role of creating and editing content in the folders they have access to within their website. They manage the website primarily from the Experience Editor, which is an intuitive editing environment designed to edit and write content directly on the page as if viewing it from the browser.
A Content Author role can perform the following functions:

Lock (Check out) and Unlock (Check in) pages
- Insert a new page or sub-folder
- Add/Edit content to a page they have access to
- Add/Delete page versions
- Preview pages
- Upload media items (images and document files)
- Edit media item properties
- Lock (Check out) and Unlock (Check in) media items
- Delete media items
- Overwrite existing media items
- View linked Items on a document file
- Submit pages for review
Approver
Content Approvers have the same permissions as content authors. Approvers will only be able to approve content to which they have access.
The content approver role performs the following functions:
- Same as a Content Author
- Approve/reject content
