May 2026: ADA Compliance Update

The U.S. Department of Justice has announced a delay in the compliance timeline. The new deadline is April 26, 2027.

The requirements themselves have not changed, and our obligation to provide accessible digital content remains exactly the same. UConn needs to remain fully focused on meeting guidelines ASAP. As a public university that believes in the "freedom of academic inquiry and expression,” equitable access is pivotal.

Focus for website contributors should be on creating ADA-Compliant web content and documents.

Details are available on Training Resources.

For questions or help with document remediation please contact lrosado@uchc.edu.

Digital accessibility means that websites, applications, and digital content is designed and developed so that people with disabilities can understand and interact with them on any device used to access the internet.

The University of Connecticut is committed to achieving equal and full participation for persons with disabilities. This site provides the campus community and the public of accessibility-related efforts.
